Our doctoral student in Paris
Zsuzsa Hajabács, a third-year PhD student of the Department of the Hungarian Language and Literary Science, gave a presentation at the 10th International Conference on Research in Teaching and Education, which took place in Paris from August 14 to 16. The conference was attended by teachers and doctoral students from several renowned educational institutions, including speakers from Poland, the United States of America, Sweden, England, Thailand, Hong Kong, Turkey, the Philippines and Iceland. Zsuzsa Hajabács was the only participant from Slovakia.
In her presentation, entitled "Attitudes Towards Translation in Foreign Language Teaching in Slovak High Schools with Hungarian as the Language of Instruction", she discussed how English teachers at Slovak high schools with Hungarian as the language of instruction, whom she observed during her research, relate to translation and the presence of the mother tongue in foreign language teaching. Our doctoral student returned home from Paris not only with fond memories and a sense of accomplishment, but also with useful professional contacts and an invitation to another conference.
